How We Became Me & My Shadow
Our dog Shadow, who was an American Eskimo, was and is my inspiration for this business. At the age of 5 he started having some health issues that just kept escalating. He had a skin disease called pemphigus erythematosus, he had arthritis, he had cataracts and then retinal degeneration. When Shadow went blind he wouldn't walk around the block anymore. When he would hear something he would stop and I couldn't get him to move, so we decided to put a pool up in our back yard just for him and he really enjoyed it. He was walking around more than he had for a long time and he was a bit more perkier. It wasn't nothing drastic, but I definately noticed a difference. I put him in the pool everyday that I possibly could that summer. Then fall came and we couldn't use the pool anymore. Shadow's health declined. At the age of 12 we found out he had something in his neck blocking the messages from his brain to his body. With everything that was going on with Shadow we made the hard decision to have him put to sleep. I still don't know if it was the right decision, but it's the one that we made. I learned a lot from him.
Without Shadow we would have never known the need for such a place. During all of this I ran into a lot of people who were in need of the same thing, an indoor pool and an indoor walking area, so we decided to take on this adventure. We are determined to learn and help who we can. We want to be here so that dog lovers have a place to bring their dogs when they need it, for whatever reason.
